Matthew 18:21–35 is a story Jesus told about the unforgiving servant to teach that God expects His people to forgive others limitlessly, just as He has forgiven them. Peter asks Jesus how many times he should forgive someone who sins against him, suggesting "as many as seven times". Jesus answers "seventy-seven times" (or seventy times seven), meaning there is no limit.
